Current Work

During the 2022-2023 academic year, the UNM Solar Splash team is working to:

• Construct a new hull for our boat made out of carbon fiber
  • This new hull will be much lighter than our previous hull, which will reduce drag and allow for better performance at competition.
• Purchase new motors & motor controllers 
  
  • The team is researching options for more powerful and efficient motors for our boat.
  • We are also looking for new motor controllers that are more efficient than our previous ones because we were having problems with power loss and overheating controllers.
• Optimal propeller
  • Since we are changing the motors on our boat, we are also going to need a new propeller to match the new rpm.
  • We are looking into the best size/shape for a new propeller.
