University of New Mexico Solar Splash
Solar Splash is a capstone senior design project option for Mechanical Engineering students at the University of New Mexico. Each year, the team designs and build a solar-powered boat to compete in the World Championship of Collegiate Solar Boating. The team generally consists of a mix of undergraduate and graduate students studying Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Team members gain hands-on, technical experience with the engineering design process, propulsion, solar cells, power management, and more.
